How to Find Your Frigidaire Model and Serial Number
Look for a label with "Model" and "Serial" on it — inside the refrigerator, inside the washer or dryer door opening, or behind the drawer of a range. A photo of that label is the most useful thing you can send us before a repair visit.

Why the model number matters
Frigidaire has built appliances on many different control platforms. The same error code, or the same symptom, can point to different parts depending on which control your appliance has. The model and serial number tell a technician:
- which control platform and diagnostic mode your appliance uses;
- which parts fit — Frigidaire changes some parts by serial range (for example, a replacement freezer fan motor fits only side-by-side and French-door refrigerators built from January 2015 on, and some four-door main boards depend on the serial range);
- whether a Frigidaire service bulletin applies to your unit.
With the model number in hand, we can often bring the right part on the first visit.
Where to find the label
| Appliance | Where to look |
|---|---|
| Refrigerator | On the rating label inside the fresh-food (refrigerator) compartment |
| Front-load washer | On the serial plate inside the door opening |
| Top-load washer | Check around the lid opening; your owner's guide shows the exact spot |
| Dryer | On the serial plate inside the door opening |
| Range | Open the lower oven drawer or storage drawer — the serial plate is on the frame behind it on many models |
| Wall oven | On the lower left inner trim of the oven, visible with the door open, or on the side of the lower oven frame on double ovens |
| Dishwasher | Open the door and check the edges of the door and the tub opening |
| Cooktop | Your owner's guide shows the serial plate location for your cooktop |
Locations vary by model. If you can't find it, the owner's guide for your appliance shows the exact spot, and the label is often printed on the original receipt or installation paperwork too.
What the serial number tells you
Frigidaire serial numbers follow a pattern documented in Frigidaire's service manuals:
| Position | Meaning | Example: 4A51234567 |
|---|---|---|
| 1st character | Manufacturing facility | 4 |
| 2nd character | Product type: A refrigerator, B freezer, C washer, D dryer, E laundry center, F range, H dishwasher | A = refrigerator |
| 3rd character | Last digit of the production year | 5 = 2015 (or 2025) |
| 4th–5th | Production week | 12 = week 12 |
| Last five | Unit number | 34567 |
Because only the last digit of the year is used, the year repeats every ten years — a "5" can mean 2015 or 2025. The design of the appliance usually makes it obvious which decade it is. A Frigidaire service bulletin, for example, treats refrigerators with serial numbers starting 4A501 or later as built on or after January 1, 2015.
What a model number looks like
On older Frigidaire Gallery bottom-freezer refrigerators, the model number is built from blocks: brand (FG for Frigidaire Gallery, FP for Frigidaire Professional), product type, capacity, feature level, year of introduction and color. For example, FGHB2344LF was a Gallery bottom-freezer refrigerator of about 23 cu. ft. in stainless steel. Newer families use different patterns, so don't rely on decoding the model number yourself — just send us the full number as printed, including any letters and digits at the end.
