How our pricing works
Estimated repair ranges describe typical repairs under normal service conditions. They are not fixed quotes. Your final cost depends on the exact model, the parts it needs, supplier pricing and availability, what the diagnosis finds, and how much labor the repair takes.
Some repairs need extra labor just to reach the failed part — for example when the appliance has to be pulled out of a tight opening, uninstalled and reinstalled, or when cabinetry, trim panels, a stacked unit or other components have to be moved or taken apart and put back together. Part prices also move with supplier stock, market conditions, shipping and import costs.
You always get the final repair price for approval after diagnosis and before any repair work begins. The $75 service call is applied toward the repair when you approve it. Labor is covered by our 90-day labor warranty, and qualifying parts are covered by the applicable 1-year manufacturer warranty.
Why some repairs cost more than others
- Access is labor. A part that takes ten minutes to reach on a freestanding range can take an hour on a slide-in range wedged between cabinets, or on a laundry center in a tight closet. Built-in and counter-depth refrigerators, cabinet panels and water lines all add time.
- Sealed-system work is a procedure, not a part. Recovery, brazing, a new filter-drier, a deep vacuum and a weighed-in charge take hours and specialized equipment, on top of the part.
- Part prices move. Control boards, compressors and glass tops vary widely by model, and supplier prices change with availability, shipping and import costs. We quote the current price, not last year's.
- Two visits vs. one. When a part isn't on the truck, it's ordered and the repair is finished on a return visit. Parts that ship from distant warehouses or are back-ordered take longer.
Repair or replace?
We'd rather tell you a repair doesn't make sense than sell you one that doesn't. How we think about it:
- Compare to the cost of a comparable new appliance installed, not the cheapest one on sale. Built-in and counter-depth units cost more to replace.
- Consider the rest of the appliance. A sound cabinet, good door seals and no other known problems make a repair a better investment.
- Look at the type of repair. Fans, pumps, igniters, elements, valves, sensors and door locks are almost always worth repairing. Compressors, sealed systems, tub bearings and transmissions on older or entry-level appliances are the closer calls.
- Factor in the hassle. Replacement means delivery, installation, haul-away and sometimes cabinet changes. That matters more for built-in appliances.
If you're on the fence, the diagnosis gives you the information to decide — and the $75 is applied toward the repair if you go ahead.
Pricing questions
Is the $75 service call added to the repair price?
No. When you approve the repair, the $75 is applied toward the repair price. If you decline the repair, the service call is the only charge.
Why don't you give exact prices over the phone?
Because the same symptom can have very different causes. A refrigerator that isn't cooling might need a $200 fan motor or a compressor. We'll share typical ranges on the phone, but the exact price comes after diagnosis, and you approve it before we start.
Do your ranges include parts and labor?
Yes. The estimated ranges are typical total repair prices including parts and labor for a typical repair. Extra access work, additional failed parts, or unusual supplier prices can put a repair outside the range, and we tell you before any work begins.
Do you offer a warranty?
Yes: 90 days on labor, plus the applicable 1-year manufacturer warranty on qualifying parts.
