These examples show how common Frigidaire problems are usually diagnosed and repaired, and roughly what they cost in the Las Vegas Valley. They are representative scenarios, not individual customer records — your diagnosis and price may differ.
Freezer was holding temperature, but the refrigerator section had crept into the high 40s and milk was spoiling.
Diagnostic finding
No airflow from the freezer into the fresh-food section. The evaporator fan motor was not turning, and its windings tested open. The evaporator coil itself was clear of heavy frost, so defrost was not the root cause.
Repair performed
Replaced the evaporator fan motor and confirmed airflow at the fresh-food vents.
Parts involved
Evaporator fan motor
Result
Both compartments were back at their set temperatures within a few hours.
Approximate total $345
Typical Repair Example
Frost on the back wall of the freezer, fridge getting warm
Frigidaire side-by-side refrigerator
Symptom
Fresh-food side was slowly warming over several days; a layer of frost was building on the freezer's rear panel.
Diagnostic finding
The evaporator coil was fully encased in ice — a classic defrost failure pattern. The defrost heater tested open; the defrost thermostat and control were checked and working.
Repair performed
Melted the ice off the coil, replaced the defrost heater, and ran a forced defrost cycle to verify the heater, terminator and drain.
Parts involved
Defrost heater
Result
Coil cleared evenly, airflow returned and temperatures recovered to normal.
Approximate total $395
Typical Repair Example
Not cooling at all — compressor would not start
Frigidaire French-door refrigerator, about six years old
Symptom
Both compartments warm. The fans ran and the lights worked, but the compressor clicked on and off without running.
Diagnostic finding
The start components and the control output to the compressor tested good. The compressor drew locked-rotor current and tripped its overload repeatedly — a failed compressor, not a control problem.
Repair performed
EPA 608 procedure: recovered the refrigerant, replaced the compressor and filter-drier, brazed under nitrogen, pressure-tested, evacuated to a deep vacuum and weighed in the factory charge.
Normal cooling with stable temperatures. Sealed-system repair covered by our labor warranty; the compressor carries the applicable manufacturer warranty.
Cycle stopped with standing water in the drum and a drain error on the display.
Diagnostic finding
The drain path was checked from the drum to the standpipe. The drain hose was clear, but the pump motor hummed without moving water; debris had damaged the impeller.
Repair performed
Replaced the drain pump and cleared the pump housing and hose.
Parts involved
Drain pump
Result
Washer drained and spun normally through a full test cycle.
Approximate total $335
Typical Repair Example
Washer won't start — door won't lock
Frigidaire Gallery front-load washer
Symptom
Cycle would not begin; the door lock light flashed and the machine eventually showed a door error.
Diagnostic finding
The control was sending the lock signal, but the lock assembly did not engage and its switch did not report locked. The door strike and hinge alignment were fine.
Repair performed
Replaced the door lock assembly.
Parts involved
Door lock / latch assembly
Result
Door locked and unlocked correctly; washer completed a full cycle.
Approximate total $295
Typical Repair Example
Roaring noise during spin
Frigidaire front-load washer, about four years old
Symptom
Loud rumbling that got worse as spin speed increased; the drum felt rough when turned by hand.
Diagnostic finding
Worn tub bearings with water seepage at the rear of the tub. Suspension and motor were in good shape, so the repair was worth discussing given the washer's age.
Repair performed
Customer approved the repair after reviewing the price against replacement. Replaced the rear tub with new bearings and seal.
Upper dryer tumbled normally but clothes came out cold and wet.
Diagnostic finding
Correct 240-volt supply at the terminal block. The heating element was open; the thermal fuse and high-limit tested good. The vent run was partially restricted.
Repair performed
Replaced the heating element and recommended a professional vent cleaning.
Parts involved
Heating element
Result
Normal heat and dry times on the test load.
Approximate total $365
Typical Repair Example
Washer section won't drain
Frigidaire electric laundry center
Symptom
Bottom washer stopped mid-cycle full of water.
Diagnostic finding
Drain pump seized. On this one-piece unit, reaching the pump means pulling the laundry center out and removing the lower front panel.
Repair performed
Replaced the drain pump, checked the drain hose, and reinstalled and leveled the unit.
Parts involved
Drain pump
Result
Washer drained and spun normally.
Approximate total $385
Typical Repair Example
Dryer squealing and thumping
Frigidaire gas laundry center
Symptom
Loud squeal from the upper dryer that got worse over a few weeks.
Diagnostic finding
Worn drum rollers and a dry, noisy idler pulley. The belt was cracked.
Filter and air gap were clear; the drain hose was not kinked. A glass shard had jammed the drain pump impeller.
Repair performed
Replaced the drain pump and cleaned the sump.
Parts involved
Drain pump
Result
Full drain at the end of each cycle.
Approximate total $265
Typical Repair Example
Fills, hums, but dishes stay dirty
Frigidaire Gallery dishwasher
Symptom
Water filled normally, but the spray arms never turned and dishes came out dirty.
Diagnostic finding
The circulation pump motor hummed without spinning; it was not a spray-arm clog.
Repair performed
Replaced the circulation pump and motor assembly.
Parts involved
Circulation pump / wash motor
Result
Strong spray action and clean dishes on the test cycle.
Approximate total $485
Typical Repair Example
Dishwasher won't fill
Frigidaire built-in dishwasher
Symptom
Cycle started, but no water entered the tub.
Diagnostic finding
Supply valve under the sink was open with good pressure. The inlet valve solenoid was receiving power but not opening, and its screen was scaled with minerals.
Food softening in July; the freezer ran almost constantly and felt hot along the bottom.
Diagnostic finding
The compressor was running, but the condenser fan had stopped and the condenser coil was caked with dust. Without airflow, the system couldn't shed heat in a hot garage.
Repair performed
Replaced the condenser fan motor and cleaned the condenser coil.
Parts involved
Condenser fan motor
Result
Freezer pulled back down to temperature and began cycling normally.
Approximate total $335
Typical Repair Example
Heavy frost on the back panel, shelves getting warmer
Frigidaire frost-free upright freezer
Symptom
Thick frost on the rear panel and slowly rising temperatures over a week.
Diagnostic finding
The evaporator coil was fully iced over. The defrost heater tested open; the defrost thermostat and control were working.
Repair performed
Cleared the ice, replaced the defrost heater and verified a full defrost cycle.
Parts involved
Defrost heater
Result
Clean coil, normal airflow and steady temperatures.
Approximate total $385
Typical Repair Example
Chest freezer clicking but not cooling
Frigidaire chest freezer
Symptom
Freezer warm; a click every few minutes from the back.
Diagnostic finding
The compressor windings tested good, but the start relay had failed, so the compressor kept tripping its overload instead of starting.
Repair performed
Replaced the start relay and overload and confirmed compressor amperage and cooling.
Parts involved
Start relay, overload
Result
Compressor started normally and the freezer returned to temperature overnight.

How our pricing works
Estimated repair ranges describe typical repairs under normal service conditions. They are not fixed quotes. Your final cost depends on the exact model, the parts it needs, supplier pricing and availability, what the diagnosis finds, and how much labor the repair takes.
Some repairs need extra labor just to reach the failed part — for example when the appliance has to be pulled out of a tight opening, uninstalled and reinstalled, or when cabinetry, trim panels, a stacked unit or other components have to be moved or taken apart and put back together. Part prices also move with supplier stock, market conditions, shipping and import costs.
You always get the final repair price for approval after diagnosis and before any repair work begins. The $75 service call is applied toward the repair when you approve it. Labor is covered by our 90-day labor warranty, and qualifying parts are covered by the applicable 1-year manufacturer warranty.
