Frigidaire Gas Burner Won't Light or Keeps Clicking
A gas burner that clicks but won't light usually has a burner cap that isn't seated, clogged burner ports or moisture after cleaning. If every burner fails or the clicking won't stop, the spark module or a switch needs service.

A gas surface burner doesn't light, lights unevenly, or the igniter keeps clicking. Here is what Frigidaire's own service documentation says about it — what's normal, what you can safely check, and what technicians usually find.
Things you can safely check
- With burners off and cool, reseat the burner caps so they sit level.
- With burners off and cool, clean the burner slots and ignition ports per the owner's guide (small-gauge wire or needle). Use caution
- After cleaning, let parts dry completely before relighting.
- Turn the knob fully to LITE until the burner ignites.
- If you smell gas, stop. Don't use the cooktop and follow the gas safety steps. Use caution
If the problem is still there after these checks, further diagnosis usually needs access to internal parts. If cleaning and reseating don't help, a technician tests the spark module and switches and checks the gas supply.

What may be causing it
Several different failures can produce this symptom. These are the causes Frigidaire documentation and service bulletins point to, roughly from most to least common. Price ranges are typical totals in the Las Vegas Valley, including parts and labor.
Burner cap not seated
Caps must be level and seated on the burner heads. The igniter tip must line up with the cap nib on listed sealed burners.
Clogged burner ports
Spills block the slots and ignition ports.
Moisture after cleaning or a spill
A wet burner or igniter can click and not light until it dries.
No power to the igniters
Electric ignition needs the range plugged in and the circuit on. During an outage burners can be lit manually per the owner's guide.
Spark module, igniter or switch
A failed spark module or switch causes no spark or constant clicking.
Typical repair: gas igniter or spark module — $180–$330
Incorrect LP conversion
A range converted to LP must use the correct orifices.
Clues that narrow it down
- Just one — points toward: burner cap not seated; clogged burner ports; moisture after cleaning or a spill.
- All burners — points toward: no power to the igniters; spark module, igniter or switch.
- Yes, but no flame — points toward: burner cap not seated; clogged burner ports; moisture after cleaning or a spill.
- Clicks constantly, even when lit or off — points toward: moisture after cleaning or a spill; spark module, igniter or switch.
- No clicking — points toward: no power to the igniters; spark module, igniter or switch.
