How to recognize it: French door with external dispenser; error messages show 'Er' in the freezer display area and a code (CE, t1…t8) in the fresh-food area; R600a refrigerant per the tech sheet.
- Run time is 100% at 90°F ambient on these models even with no load and no door openings; hotter rooms push the system to its limit.

How to recognize it: French door, bottom freezer drawer, through-the-door ice and water with temperature arrows and +/- keys on the dispenser panel; fresh-food (door) ice maker; R-134a refrigerant per the tech sheet.
- Performance data at the 37°F/0°F setting, no load: about 90–100% run time at 65°F ambient and 100% at 90°F ambient.

Frigidaire Gallery and Professional French-door refrigerators introduced around 2010–2011
How to recognize it: Bottom freezer. Express-Select (touch arrows beside each temperature) or Pro-Select (LCD with numbered keys) user interface. Main board (ERF2500++) under the refrigerator behind the lower front grille. Fresh-food ice maker in the left door (finger-evaporator or flex-tray designs). Some models use a variable-capacity (inverter) compressor.
- Holding the power on-off key for 3 seconds turns off the cooling system and the ice maker (displays read OFF) but does not remove power from the refrigerator.
- If the freezer and fresh food displays show the same temperature, the refrigerator is in showroom mode and is not cooling; showroom mode ends with a power-on reset (unplug for one minute).
- After power-up from room temperature the freezer typically reaches 25°F in about an hour and the fresh food section 54°F in about 90 minutes; HI and the power-fail alarm are expected during that time.
Codes marked Diagnostic mode are stored by the control and read with the recall procedure in the owner's guide or tech sheet, or by a technician.

Frigidaire side-by-side refrigerators (2013-era service literature)
How to recognize it: Side-by-side, top-mount control housing in the fresh-food compartment. Three control variants: electromechanical with Adaptive Defrost Control (ADC), Beta electronic control, Gamma electronic control.
- Beta electronic control: freezer settable from -6°F to +6°F (default 0°F) and one press past +6°F turns cooling off; fresh food settable from 33°F to 47°F (default 37°F).
- On Beta-control models, pressing the freezer UP key past +6°F turns all cooling loads off and the displays show OFF — a setting mistake that looks like a failure.
- Door-ajar alarm: a door left open 5 minutes or more triggers beeps and (on some models) a door ajar indicator.

Frigidaire side-by-side refrigerators from about 2019 on (FRSS/GRSS families, R600a)
How to recognize it: Side-by-side with LED temperature-setting bars (no numeric display), external dispenser; freezer ice maker with its own POWER and TEST/SERVICE buttons.
- With no load and no door openings these side-by-side models run 75–85% of the time at 65°F and 90–100% at 90°F ambient.
- The freezer ice maker's TEST/SERVICE button runs a two-rotation self-test; the ice-level arm must be held up during the first rotation or the test reports a false failure. A rapidly blinking power light after the test means an internal ice maker fault.
