Frigidaire Oven Not Heating
A Frigidaire oven that won't heat most often has a worn igniter (gas models) or a burned-out bake element (electric models). Rule out an unset clock or demo mode first; an F-code on the display points to the sensor or control.

The oven doesn't heat, heats only a little, or the bake function doesn't work. Here is what Frigidaire's own service documentation says about it — what's normal, what you can safely check, and what technicians usually find.
Check this first: it may be normal
- The clock must be set before some ovens will operate.
- In sales demo mode, the display works but the oven doesn't heat. It's exited by a power-off and the steps in the owner's guide.
Things you can safely check
- Make sure the clock is set and the oven controls are set correctly for bake.
- Gas ranges: make sure the range's gas regulator valve is ON.
- If a code appears, press OFF, then try bake again. If it repeats, turn off power for 5 minutes and try once more. Use caution
- Check the breaker. Electric ovens need both halves of a 240 V breaker. Use caution
If the problem is still there after these checks, further diagnosis usually needs access to internal parts. Igniters, elements, sensors and boards all fail with the same complaint. A technician measures each part, including igniter current on gas models, before replacing anything.

What may be causing it
Several different failures can produce this symptom. These are the causes Frigidaire documentation and service bulletins point to, roughly from most to least common. Price ranges are typical totals in the Las Vegas Valley, including parts and labor.
Weak oven igniter (gas)
The manufacturer states the hot-surface igniter is fragile and wears over time; a weak igniter slows or prevents ignition.
Typical repair: oven igniter (gas) — $180–$380
Bake element (electric)
A burned-out bake element is a common reason electric ovens don't heat.
Typical repair: bake or broil element (electric) — $180–$350
Demo mode or clock not set
Ovens don't heat in demo mode; some require the clock to be set.
Oven temperature sensor
F30/F31 codes mean the sensor circuit is open or shorted.
Typical repair: oven temperature sensor — $180–$280
Gas supply or safety valve (gas)
The range's regulator valve must be ON. A technician checks supply pressure and the safety valve.
Typical repair: gas safety valve — $200–$440
Control or relay board
Relay board or communication codes can stop heating.
Typical repair: oven control board / clock — $250–$620
Clues that narrow it down
- Gas — points toward: weak oven igniter (gas); gas supply or safety valve (gas).
- Electric — points toward: bake element (electric).
- Yes, an F code — points toward: oven temperature sensor; control or relay board.
- The display shows demo or Sd — points toward: demo mode or clock not set.
- Igniter glows but no flame lights for a long time — points toward: weak oven igniter (gas).
- No glow at all — points toward: weak oven igniter (gas); control or relay board.

Error codes linked to this problem
These codes appear on specific Frigidaire control platforms. The same code can mean something else on another model, so check your appliance type and model.
- F18 / F19 / F22 / F25 / F27 — Oven relay board failure or communication between the oven interface board and the relay board. (Frigidaire ranges and wall ovens with electronic oven controls (F-codes))
- F30 — Oven temperature sensor (RTD) open circuit. (Frigidaire ranges and wall ovens with electronic oven controls (F-codes))
- F31 — Oven temperature sensor (RTD) shorted. (Frigidaire ranges and wall ovens with electronic oven controls (F-codes))
What Frigidaire service bulletins say
Frigidaire publishes technical bulletins for technicians when a problem is common on certain models or serial ranges. These apply to the models they list:
- Gas odor when using the oven; slow ignition of the bake burner (listed ranges, serial VF514–VF543). See ck-gas facts: air in new gas lines, supply/regulator pressure, worn hot-surface igniter. (Frigidaire service bulletin CKSF251B)
- Gas odor, bake burner not lighting or slow heating (listed ranges, serial VF522–VF543). Specific bake burner date codes are identified for replacement on listed ranges. (Frigidaire service bulletin CKSF2611)
- Unit is in demo mode (PUX control ranges and wall ovens). Demo mode is exited by removing power for at least 30 seconds and following the exit steps on the control. What you can do: Turn the breaker off for 30 seconds and back on, then follow the demo-exit steps in the owner's guide. (Frigidaire service bulletin CKTT232C)
- Sales demo mode (Sd) on listed ranges and wall ovens. How to exit Sales Demo mode, during which the oven does not heat. (Frigidaire service bulletin CKTT1312)
When to call a technician
Frigidaire appliances can use different components and diagnostic logic depending on the model and control platform. Since several different failures can produce the same symptom, the safest next step is to have the appliance professionally diagnosed.
Further testing requires access to energized electrical components and should be performed by a qualified technician.
Gas-system testing should be performed by a qualified service technician.
